Local Spots
Atlantic Canada is a great place for all wind and water sports. Nowhere in the Maritimes is more than 100 miles from the ocean and most places are less than 30 miles from the coast. The Maritimes are breezy all year round.

Here are a few spots across Nova Scotia:

Lake William, NS

Lake William is one of our favorite spot when it comes to snowkiting and icesailing. The lake has good wind exposure and is big enough to have fun all day.
During the week-end we park at the Department of Forest and Natural Resources. There is enough space to launch a kite or set up an iceboat.
Most of the time the wind blows along the lake, so it's very easy to cross the lake.
Watch out in the winter, some areas behind the small island are hard to freeze.

In the summer Lake William can be enjoyed for kayaking, sailing all kinds of Hobies, tubing and wakeboarding.

Grand Lake, NS

Grand Lake is a very popular lake for all water sports, it's our favorite spot for sailing as it's one of the biggest lake in Nova Scotia. The wind blows along the lake, so it's very easy to tack the whole lake. The middle of the lake has strong exposure to the wind, both ends have very little exposure.

Grand Lake is also good for ice sailing but as it's a very big and deep lake it's hard to freeze. In the winter it's not easy to find a spot to launch from as the parks are closed and the spot at the boat launch is too close to the canal.

In the summer, there are a few spots to launch your boat: at the boat launch in Wellington and at Oakfield Park.

The spot next to the Canal is also a favorite spot for fishermen.

Conrad Beach - Eastern Shore

Conrad Beach is a good spot for all kiting activities: kiteboarding, landboarding, buggying or just flying a kite for fun. Conrad Beach is just 20mn drive from Dartmouth on the Eastern Shore. It's a long and wide beach (at low tide)
In July and August it gets too busy for traction activities on the beach, all other months are fine.

Watch out by-standers and dog owners who don't know that kiting might be a dangerous sport.
